WHY BIG PURPLE PANTS WAS FOUNDED

Big Purple Pants was created because people living with secondary breast cancer needed somewhere they could simply be themselves. A place where they didn't have to explain how they were feeling, where others just understood.

Founded by Sara, Claire Byford-Wood and Carole Mitchell, Big Purple Pants began with one simple aim – to bring people living with secondary breast cancer together, to share experiences, support one another and remind each other that life doesn't stop with a diagnosis.

What started as a small support group has grown into a charity supporting members from across Essex through regular meet-ups, social events, wellbeing activities, fundraising and awareness campaigns.

There are good days and difficult days. There are moments of laughter, moments of tears and everything in between. That's exactly what Big Purple Pants is here for – real people supporting one another through real life.

We're proud to have built a welcoming community where friendships are formed, confidence is rebuilt and nobody has to face secondary breast cancer alone.

None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers, trustees, supporters, local businesses and everyone who continues to champion what we do.

Big Purple Pants is a local charity created by people who understand life with secondary breast cancer. We're here to bring people together, offer support when it's needed most and create a community where nobody has to face their diagnosis alone.
